Maidstone Movers – Terms and Conditions
Rights, Obligations, and Responsibilities
These terms and conditions outline the agreement between the customer and Maidstone Movers, which operates as part of GP Removals. These do not apply to insurance contracts.
1. Removal Offer
Our removal service pricing does not include customs duties or state fees. The price quoted is fixed unless any of the following apply:

The offer is not accepted within 60 days.

The work is delayed by the customer and not completed within three months.

Costs increase due to currency fluctuations, taxation changes, or freight charges beyond our control.

We need to collect or deliver above the second floor.
-
Additional services are requested, including storage or moving extra goods.
-
Delays occur outside our reasonable control.
-
Inadequate stairs, lifts, or doorways, or unsuitable approaches cause additional work.
-
Parking, customs inspections, or other charges are incurred on behalf of the customer.
-
The final charge may vary based on actual packed volume compared to the estimated quote.
2. Excluded & Additional Work
Unless agreed upon in writing, we will not:

Dismantle or assemble furniture, fittings, or appliances.
-
Disconnect or reconnect appliances or equipment.
-
Remove or lay floor coverings.
-
Move storage heaters unless dismantled.
-
Handle excluded items listed in Clause 5.
-
If our staff perform these tasks without written agreement, we accept no liability for any damage.
3. Customer Responsibilities
The customer is responsible for:

Ensuring that nothing is taken in error or left behind.
-
Obtaining all necessary documents for the move.
-
Being present at both departure and arrival locations or assigning a representative.
-
Preparing appliances before removal.
-
Arranging parking and paying any penalties.
-
Ensuring keys to the new property are available before 3 PM. Delays beyond this may result in additional charges (£50-£100).

If keys are unavailable after 4:30 PM, we may return the vehicle to our yard, requiring storage and rebooking fees.

Measuring large furniture items to ensure they fit through doorways before the move. We are not responsible for damages due to improper measurements.
4. Ownership of Goods
By entering this contract, the customer confirms that:

The goods belong to them or they have authority to move them.

The customer indemnifies Maidstone Movers against any claims regarding ownership disputes.
5. Excluded Items
We will not accept responsibility for loss or damage to:

Jewelry, watches, money, valuable collections.
-
Hazardous or explosive materials.
-
Food, plants, or perishable goods.
-
Animals or pets (special agreements may be made separately).
If we unknowingly receive restricted items, we reserve the right to dispose of them without notice.
6. Cancellation Policy

More than 14 days before the move – No charge.
-
Within 14 days – 10% of the quoted rate.
-
Within 24 hours – 25% of the quoted rate.
7. Payment Terms

Payments are accepted via cash, bank transfer, cheque, or debit/credit card.
-
Credit card payments incur a 2.5% surcharge.
-
Payments must be made before the move, or we reserve the right to cancel the service.
-
Outstanding balances over 45 days will incur 1% daily interest.
8. Liability for Loss or Damage
Insurance is available as an optional supplement. Maidstone Movers will not be liable for loss or damage due to:

Fire or storage incidents.
-
Pests, climate damage, or normal wear and tear.
-
Loss of perishable goods.
-
Difficult access causing property damage.
-
Items that were not packed by us.
-
Any excluded items listed in Clause 5.

All insurance claims are subject to a £250 excess fee.
9. Delays in Transit
If a delay occurs within our control, we will compensate up to £200. If due to customer error (e.g., unavailability of premises), goods will be placed into storage at the customer's expense.
10. Property Damage
We are not liable for unintentional damage to property or premises unless gross negligence is proven. Liability is capped at £200, unless additional property damage insurance is purchased.
11. Claims Process

Claims for damage must be reported within 48 hours of delivery.

If goods are collected from our storage, claims must be made at the time of collection.

Claims made after this period will not be accepted.
12. Non-Payment Consequences

We may hold, sell, or dispose of goods if payment is overdue by 30 days.

Any disposal costs will be deducted from the sale proceeds.
13. Right to Retain Goods
Maidstone Movers reserves the right to withhold or dispose of goods until full payment is received.
14. Third-Party Claims
The customer indemnifies us against claims by third parties regarding ownership or service-related disputes.
15. Subcontracting
We reserve the right to subcontract services, and all conditions will still apply.
16. Legal Jurisdiction
This contract is subject to UK law.
Storage-Specific Terms
17. Customer’s Forwarding Address

A forwarding address must be provided and updated if changed.

Notices sent to the last known address will be considered received within seven days.
18. Inventory
If we provide an inventory list, it is assumed accurate unless the customer disputes it within three days.
19. Storage Payments
-
Advance payment required before goods can be released.
-
All accounts must be settled before removing items from storage.
20. Storage Price Revisions
-
We may adjust storage charges with 30 days' notice.
21. Termination of Storage Contract
-
Customers must provide at least 10 days' notice to terminate a storage contract.
-
We will not terminate storage contracts unless a three-month notice is given.
22. Handing Over of Goods
Our responsibility ends upon release of goods to the customer or their appointed representative.
